Hello y'all, and welcome to my arbitrary assortment of scribblings, photographs, and generally bohemian recording of life and the memories created while living it.
I launched this web site when I was sixteen, partially because owning and writing my own blog sounded fresh and colorful, and later, as the novelty dwindled, because I recognized that leaving a virtual logbook of my life to review later might possibly prove to be valuable as time took its twists and turns. I don't take the most sterling photographs in the cyber jungle, and the topics I choose to write about could be outperformed in the entertainment department, but that's fine by me. I don't claim to be anything more than an average human being, and life's simpler side holds distinct attraction to me. That could be due to the fact that the setting belonging to my oldest memories is a county road in rural Michigan, and that I knew how to milk a goat and butcher a chicken years before I understood the process known as texting, but you never know.
I am a Christian, saved forever by the blood of Jesus, and sister and daughter to my seven favorite people. I have a weakness for quiet things that are too often trampled in the chaos of twenty-first century culture. Back yards where childhoods are created. Learning a new melody on my guitar. The faces of the toddlers I take care of for a living when they are describing their favorite toy to me. I love peaches and red clay roads and songs about small towns and the smell of the Ponderosa pines that flourish outside my bedroom window, and on occasion I still play in the dirt with my brothers, though that little detail probably shouldn't have squeezed in here.
I don't want to be remembered as the girl who took pretty pictures on her good days, or wrote cute things that people enjoyed, or even as a dutiful daughter or kind friend. I hope that tomorrow people recall the person I am today, and my heart's desire is that they say, "Well, she really loved Jesus."
Because when the sun is setting and the party is put away, that's all that really matters.
Hang around for a spell, and may you be encouraged.
